Transformers Manufacturing Company

Transformers Manufacturing Company

Francesco Nicoletti, an Italian engineer who had emigrated to Australia, founded the TMC Australia Transformers Manufacturing Company Pty Ltd in Melbourne, Australia in 1936 as a manufacturer of oil cooled and dry type transformers. TMC Australia Transformers Manufacturing Company Pty Ltd was the first company to bear the TMC name.

Carlo Vaccari purchased TMC from his uncle Francesco Nicoletti in 1968. At the time, Carlo was a fresh graduate of the University of Melbourne’s Mechanical Engineering program. Francesco Nicoletti was Carlo’s uncle. Because of his leadership, TMC is now acknowledged all over the world as one of the most prominent designers and manufacturers of static induction equipment. This is due in large part to the high level of engineering input that he provides as well as his commitment to perfection.

TMC began to specialize in vacuum cast epoxy resin transformers in the 1990s as a direct result of the significant technological advancements that occurred in the field of epoxy resins in the 1980s. TMC has developed into a top-tier supplier to both domestic and international markets over the course of the past three decades. The company’s goods have earned a reputation for quality and dependability in the marketplace.

TMC Australia licensed its brand to a European-based manufacturer in the year 2000. This was done to provide a direct path to a larger international market and to obtain access to raw material suppliers and other developments in the sector.

In 2013, full control of Transformers Manufacturing Company Espaa S.A. (TMC Spain) was assumed, bringing together the engineering and manufacturing expertise of TMC Australia with the extensive production capabilities of the Spanish plant located in the Basque Region close to Bilbao. TMC Spain is a subsidiary of TMC Australia.

In 2013, the majority of TMC Spain’s market reach was concentrated in the domestic market. Today, more than two-thirds of its output is sold in countries located in Europe or farther afield, such as the Middle East, North America, South America, and Southeast Asian nations.

An ingrained tradition of engineering and manufacturing excellence that results in products of the highest quality and reliability can be attributed to the stability and success that TMC Australia has experienced over the course of more than eight decades, as well as the global expansion that TMC Spain has experienced over the course of the past five years.

SYNERGY

Both TMC Australia and TMC Spain have extensive production and technical knowledge, which, when combined, creates a synergistic effect that makes it possible to design and construct the most complex transformers and reactors in the most time- and money-saving manner possible.

Because of this experience, both companies have been able to expand both locally and internationally, with each company drawing on the complementary strengths and assistance offered by the other.

Since 2013, TMC Spain has been drawing on the extensive experience of TMC Australia, which has led to a further improvement in the company’s technical understanding. Because of this, larger, more complicated transformers with ratings of up to 30MVA and 66kV are now allowed to be manufactured.

TMC Australia now has access to a European base from which it can get raw materials and selected componentry made by TMC Spain, which will allow it to provide its local Australian and Southern Hemisphere customer base with high-quality and cost-effective solutions.
