State Netball Hockey Centre

The State Netball & Hockey Centre is one of Australia’s premier sporting areas that provide athletic centers and programs from grass roots to high performance, international and Olympic level athletes. Over 500,000 people annually play or see netball, baseball and other events in the center, with over 80 percent of its customers being female.

The SNHC job provides more chances for girls of all ages to become active and try for the very best, on and off the courts. The redevelopment will also set the inaugural Women in Sport Leadership Centre that will kick start initiatives to induce change and grow female leadership in-game.

History

Under the plan the Present State Netball Centre will be demolished and incorporated together with all the State Hockey Centre.

The acceptance for the Centre has been fast-tracked so it might be assessed from the 2006 Commonwealth Games Evaluations Panel and also in mid-1999 structure started. Construction was finished in November 2000, along with the centre was formally opened on 16 March 2001.

Facilities

The Centre has five indoor netball courts involving two at the primary stadium combined with four outdoor courts. The major stadium has permanent seats on either side of those courts and retractable seats may be utilized (covering the next courtroom ) to raise the capability to 3,050. When the major arena is configured for basketball it’s a capacity of 3,500.

The netball courts could be altered to cater to volleyball, basketball, martial arts, theaters, indoor football and other indoor sports.

The center has two baseball pitches using a grandstand located between them, providing seating for 1,000 spectators undercover on the primary pitch and seating for 250 spectators on the next throw. The most important pitch is surrounded by grassed chairs areas that may accommodate temporary seats for as many as 8,000 audiences, as was employed for previous events like the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Current Re-Development Plans

The 64.6 million SNHC projects will provide the following:

• 6 fresh indoor netball courts to substitute the present 4 outdoor courts, bringing the Entire amount of usable netball courts to 11

• A brand new indoor hockey facility to encourage the emerging and new game of indoor hockey

• A high energy strength and conditioning gym

• The Girls in Sport Leadership Centre

• Upgrades to amenity and infrastructure such as the growth of a new front entry, providing for enhanced circulation and enhancing access to local public transportation.
